A Stunning Sunset Maternity Session at Point Dume
There’s something magical about capturing life’s most precious moments against the backdrop of nature’s beauty, and our recent maternity session at Point Dume in Malibu was the perfect example. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Pacific, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family of three as they prepared to welcome their newest addition with my friend and fellow photographer, Ellie!
The session featured mom, dad, and their young son, whose excitement about becoming a big brother was contagious. The beautiful momma to be, radiating a serene glow, wore a simple yet elegant white shirt and jeans that accentuated her growing belly. With the gender of the baby still a mystery, there was an air of anticipation that added an extra layer of emotion to the shoot.
We began the session on the sandy beach, where the soft, golden light of the setting sun illuminated the family in the most breathtaking way. Their little boy, full of energy and curiosity, was a joy to photograph as he ran along the shore, occasionally stopping to gaze out at the ocean and watch the waves. These candid moments between the family were filled with love and anticipation, perfectly capturing the essence of this special time in their lives.
As the sun continued its descent, we moved to the rocks that Point Dume is known for. The family climbed onto the rocks, creating a stunning silhouette against the vibrant sky. With the waves crashing in the background, they snuggled together, their closeness and connection evident in every frame. The dramatic landscape of the rocky cliffs, combined with the serene beauty of the ocean, provided an awe-inspiring backdrop that elevated the entire session.
Throughout the shoot, the crashing waves added a dynamic element to the photos. The sound of the ocean, the warmth of the setting sun, and the laughter shared between the family created a tranquil yet exhilarating atmosphere that I was honored to capture.
This sunset maternity session at Point Dume was a perfect blend of natural beauty and intimate family moments. The images we created together will serve as a lasting reminder of this incredible time in their lives, just before their family grows from three to four. I’m grateful to have been part of such a special moment and look forward to capturing more memories for this wonderful family in the future.
